Transportation

Wheelchair Van, Paratransit Services & Shuttle Vans

Healthfleet maintains rights issued by the PA Public Utility Commission (PUC) to provide wheelchair or Paratransit vehicles as well as 15 passenger shuttle vans. Paratransit services also are known as Wheelchair Van Vehicles are utilized for the non-emergent transport of ambulatory or wheelchair-bound patients requiring transportation to clinics, physician’s offices or other outpatient services. Arrangements for special events can be made through your CSR.

All vehicles are equipped with lifts to promote safe loading of wheelchair-bound patients as they enter and exit the vehicle. Further, the vehicles will meet all state and manufacturer required specifications.

Bariatric Services

When needed, Healthfleet will provide Bariatric Services deploying stretchers and wheelchairs designed for this purpose.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Ambulance Service

Basic Life Support (BLS) is the most frequently used ambulance service that Healthfleet provides. All vehicles in our fleet meet or exceed current state and federal regulations. BLS ambulances are staffed by certified Emergency Medical Technicians who are trained to provide BLS skills including, but not limited to:

· Patient Assessment
· Monitoring Vital Signs
· Basic Airway Maintenance
· Oxygen Administration
· Skeletal Immobilization

Although most routine ambulance requests require medical monitoring and may not require any other intervention, our fleet routinely handles both emergency and non-emergency calls along with frequent requests for both local and long-distance transports 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.

BLS Services are generally requested for the routine transportation of non-ambulatory patients not requiring Advanced Life Support services. Patients are usually transported for:

A. Admissions
B. Outpatient Visits
C. Emergency Room Visits (BLS)

Advanced Life Support (ALS) Ambulance Service

Advanced Life Support is the next level of service provided by Healthfleet. Each ALS ambulance is staffed by a state-certified paramedic and EMT. The ALS units operate under the direction of Healthfleet’ Service Medical Director and receive command (medical orders) from accredited Medical Command Physicians. In addition to BLS services, ALS crews are trained to provide:

· Advanced Airway Control (Intubation)
· Peripheral IV Access
· ECG Monitoring
· Defibrillation and Cardioversion
· External Cardiac Pacing
· Administration of Emergency (ACLS) Medications
